Her book \u201cThe Making of a Market: Credit, Notaries, and Henequen in Yucatan, 1850-1900\u201d was published by Penn State University Press in 2012.\u202f She is working on a second book on early employee credit unions in Mexico, AND\u00a0co-directs\u00a0MX.digital,\u00a0in\u00a0a collaboration with\u00a0colleagues at\u00a0CIDE\u00a0\u2013\u00a0Mexico, a\u00a0digital\u00a0database\u00a0of\u00a0Mexican historical statistics, and platform for\u00a0data visualizations.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Angel Nieves<\/strong>, presented on <em>\u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=zsJQg69nB90&amp;list=PLbkhiRA2P3qIPV5hrdVmIwWN3lcEiKzy8\">Developing a Social Justice Framework for Immersive Technologies in Digital Humanities<\/a>\u201d <\/em>at 9am on Friday the 28<sup>th\u00a0<\/sup> in Studio A of CMU&#8217;s Hunt Library.<\/p>\n<p>Angel David Nieves, Ph.D., is Associate Professor of History and Digital Humanities at San Diego State University (SDSU) in the Area of Excellence in Digital Humanities and Global Diversity. He was Associate Professor and Co-Director of the Digital Humanities Initiative (DHi) at Hamilton College (2008-17). Nieves\u2019s 3D digital edition entitled,\u00a0<em>Apartheid Heritages: A Spatial History of South Africa\u2019s Township\u2019s\u00a0<\/em>(<a href=\"https:\/\/na01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com\/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fmailtrack.io%2Ftrace%2Flink%2F30ab56733edcc6d31e6d549fc4b6350ef835441e%3Furl%3Dhttp%253A%252F%252Fwww.apartheidheritages.org%26userId%3D2142356%26signature%3Dd2070f99880a9628&amp;data=02%7C01%7Cjlinker%40brynmawr.edu%7Cce2ddfb90c374b288cb308d68637c2fa%7Cc94b117b616347fd93f8b8001804ae6f%7C1%7C0%7C636843971400017391&amp;sdata=ZNlACZDmfZxNv5Npn2%2FM24YNuFldWFvpIrAlAyAmLig%3D&amp;reserved=0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">http:\/\/www.apartheidheritages.org<\/a>) brings together modelling, immersive technologies and digital ethnography in the pursuit of documenting human rights violations in apartheid-era South Africa (Stanford University Press, under consideration). He recently completed a new book project entitled,\u00a0<em>An Architecture of Education: African American Women Design the New South,<\/em>\u00a0with the University of Rochester Press for their series \u201cGender and Race in American History\u201d (June, 2018). Nieves is also currently working on a new volume in the\u00a0<em>Debates in the Digital Humanities\u00a0<\/em>Series (w\/Senier &amp; McGrail) and recently completed work on a special collaborative issue of\u00a0<em>American Quarterly<\/em>\u00a0(Fall 2018) on DH in the field of American Studies. He serves on the Modern Language Association\u2019s (MLA) Committee on Information Technology (2016-19). He sits on the Boards of the New York State\u2019s Humanities Council (2017-20) and the Society for American City and Regional Planning History (2018-21).
